Chan Chan

Chan Chan is an ancient city built by the Chimú civilization around 850-1470 AD, located in present-day Peru. It is the largest mud-brick city in the Americas and features intricate walls, plazas, and drainage systems. Designed as a cultural and political center, Chan Chan reflects the Chimú’s sophisticated architecture and social organization. Its layout includes nine different sectors, each with its own purpose, showcasing advanced urban planning. Today, it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site, offering valuable insights into pre-Columbian history and engineering.
