Cervical screening

Cervical screening, commonly called a Pap test or smear, is a routine procedure to check the health of the cervix, the lower part of the uterus. During the test, a healthcare provider collects small cells from the cervix to look for any abnormalities or signs of infection, including early changes caused by the human papillomavirus (HPV). Detecting these early allows for timely intervention, reducing the risk of cervical cancer. Regular screening is recommended for women aged 25 to 64, usually every three to five years, depending on age and health guidelines.
