Center of Gravity (military concept)

In military strategy, the Center of Gravity (CoG) refers to the primary source of an enemy’s strength or vital capability, which, if targeted and neutralized, would significantly weaken or incapacitate them. It is the focal point around which their effectiveness revolves, whether it’s leadership, supply lines, or key infrastructure. Identifying the CoG allows military planners to focus efforts on disrupting the enemy’s core advantage, thereby achieving strategic objectives more efficiently. Essentially, understanding the CoG helps in pinpointing where to concentrate resources for the most impactful disruption of an adversary’s ability to fight.
