CDR (Committees for the Defense of the Revolution)
The Committees for the Defense of the Revolution (CDR) are grassroots organizations in Cuba, established in 1960. Created to monitor and promote the goals of the Cuban Revolution, the CDR mobilizes citizens to participate in community programs, ensure neighborhood security, and combat counter-revolutionary activities. Members often engage in social projects, health initiatives, and educational campaigns. While the CDR plays a role in community building, it also serves the government by gathering intelligence on potential dissent, making it a complex entity reflecting both civic engagement and state oversight in Cuban society.
