Cayuga

Cayuga refers to both a Native American people and their language, part of the Iroquois Confederacy in New York. The Cayuga Nation historically lived around Cayuga Lake and adopted culture, customs, and governance typical of Iroquois groups. Their language, Cayuga, is part of the Iroquoian language family, with efforts underway to preserve and revitalize it. Today, the Cayuga community works to maintain their traditions, language, and sovereignty while engaging with modern society through cultural programs and political representation.
