Cave of Letters
The Cave of Letters is an archaeological site near the Dead Sea in Israel, where a significant collection of ancient Jewish texts was discovered in the 1950s. These scrolls, including portions of the Hebrew Bible and other writings, were hidden in jars within a remote cave to protect them from Roman destruction during the Jewish-Roman War around 66-73 CE. The find provided invaluable insights into Jewish life and religious practices of that era, especially the period just before the destruction of the Second Temple. It is considered a major archaeological and historical landmark for understanding ancient Judaism.
