Dr. Catherine Hamlin was an Australian obstetrician and gynecologist renowned for her pioneering work in treating women with obstetric fistulas in Ethiopia. After moving there in 1959, she co-founded the Hamlin Fistula Hospital in Addis Ababa, providing free medical care to women suffering from this debilitating condition, often caused by prolonged childbirth.
