Casein Allergy
Casein allergy is an immune reaction to casein, a protein found in milk and dairy products. When someone with this allergy consumes casein, their body mistakenly identifies it as harmful, triggering symptoms such as hives, stomach pain, or even severe reactions like anaphylaxis. This condition is most common in infants and young children, but some may outgrow it. Management involves avoiding all dairy and foods containing casein, and reading labels carefully. Unlike lactose intolerance, which is about difficulty digesting lactose, casein allergy is an immune response that requires medical attention and careful dietary planning.
