Carotid Artery Stenting Intervention
Carotid artery stenting is a minimally invasive procedure used to treat narrowing or blockage in the carotid arteries, which supply blood to the brain. During the intervention, a doctor threads a thin tube (catheter) through a blood vessel, often from the groin, to the carotid artery in the neck. A small mesh tube (stent) is then placed to open up the artery, improving blood flow and reducing the risk of stroke. This procedure is typically recommended for patients with significant artery narrowing, especially if they have symptoms or a high risk of stroke.
