Carlo Gambino
Carlo Gambino was a prominent Italian-American mobster who became the boss of the Gambino crime family, one of the "Five Families" that dominate organized crime in New York City. Born in 1902 in Sicily, he emigrated to the U.S. in the 1920s. Gambino was known for his low profile and strategic approach, favoring subtlety over violence. Under his leadership, the family expanded its influence in various illegal activities, including racketeering and extortion. He remained largely undetected by law enforcement until his death in 1976, making him one of the most powerful figures in American organized crime history.
