CARIFTA
CARIFTA, or the Caribbean Free Trade Association, is a regional organization created in 1965 to promote trade and economic cooperation among Caribbean countries. By reducing tariffs and barriers, CARIFTA aims to boost economic growth, enhance regional integration, and facilitate the flow of goods and services. Although it evolved into CARICOM in 1973, CARIFTA continues to be associated with initiatives that support Caribbean development and cooperation. It plays a crucial role in fostering collaboration and strengthening the economies of member states, helping them to work together in a globalized market.
