
Cardinal Newman
Cardinal John Henry Newman (1801-1890) was an influential English theologian and writer known for his role in the Oxford Movement, which sought to revive Catholic traditions in the Church of England. He later converted to Roman Catholicism and became a cardinal. Newman is famous for his works on education, theology, and the relationship between faith and reason, particularly in his essay "An Essay in Aid of a Grammar of Assent." His ideas on conscience and belief have had a lasting impact on Christian thought and education. He was canonized as a saint by the Catholic Church in 2019.
