Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA)

The Canterbury Earthquake Recovery Authority (CERA) was established by the New Zealand government in 2011 to lead and coordinate the recovery efforts after a series of devastating earthquakes in the Canterbury region, particularly the major earthquake in Christchurch in September 2010 and February 2011. CERA focused on rebuilding infrastructure, homes, and communities, supporting residents and businesses affected by the disasters. The authority aimed to ensure a sustainable recovery, addressing both immediate needs and long-term planning for the region. CERA operated until its dissolution in 2016, transferring responsibilities to local authorities and other agencies.
