Camp X-Ray

Camp X-Ray was the first detention facility established at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, by the U.S. government in January 2002. It was created to hold individuals captured during the War on Terror, particularly those suspected of terrorism or ties to Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. The camp became controversial due to allegations of human rights abuses and the treatment of detainees. It has since been closed, but Camp X-Ray remains significant in discussions about military detention, civil liberties, and the balance between national security and human rights in the context of post-9/11 policies.
