California Paid Family Leave (PFL)
California Paid Family Leave (PFL) is a state program that provides partial wage replacement for workers who need to take time off to care for a seriously ill family member or to bond with a new child. Funded through employee payroll deductions, PFL offers up to eight weeks of benefits every 12 months. The program aims to support family needs while allowing employees to maintain financial stability during their leave. To qualify, individuals must have earned enough wages and meet certain eligibility criteria, but they do not need to have a job protected by the Family and Medical Leave Act (FMLA).
