California National Guard
The California National Guard is a reserve military force that operates under both state and federal authority. It consists of Army and Air units that serve various roles, including disaster response, community support, and national defense. In times of emergencies, such as wildfires or floods, the Guard can be activated to assist local authorities. It also plays a role in military operations abroad when called upon by the federal government. Members typically have civilian jobs or education but train to be ready for emergency deployment and support both state and federal missions.
