Cabinet Mission Plan

The Cabinet Mission Plan was proposed in 1946 by Britain to help India gain independence and organize its political future. It aimed to create a united India with a federal structure, allowing regions like Punjab and Bengal to have significant self-governance. The plan proposed a central government for national matters, while regions could manage their own affairs. It was intended to prevent division and conflict between Hindus and Muslims, but disagreements over states' autonomy eventually led to partition and the creation of India and Pakistan. The plan was a crucial step in India’s path to independence.
