Bunion
A bunion is a bony bump that forms at the base of the big toe, where it attaches to the foot. It develops when the bones and tissues around the joint shift out of alignment, causing the big toe to lean toward the second toe. This misalignment leads to a protrusion that can be painful, swollen, and irritated from friction with footwear. Bunions can develop gradually due to genetics, footwear choices, or structural foot issues. Treatment ranges from wearing wider shoes and using padding to surgical correction in severe cases.
