Bundesverfassungsgericht

The Bundesverfassungsgericht, or Federal Constitutional Court of Germany, is the country's highest court for constitutional matters. Its main role is to ensure that laws and government actions comply with the German Basic Law (constitution). If a law or government decision is challenged as unconstitutional, the court reviews and, if necessary, can declare it invalid. It also protects fundamental rights like freedom of speech and equality. The court operates independently, providing a crucial check on government power to uphold democratic principles and the rule of law in Germany.
