Bulgarian National Army
The Bulgarian National Army was a military organization formed after Bulgaria's liberation from Ottoman rule in 1878, primarily intended to defend the nation’s sovereignty. It evolved through the early 20th century, participating in regional conflicts such as the Balkan Wars and World War I. The army aimed to modernize and strengthen Bulgaria's military capacity, reflecting national aspirations for independence and territorial integrity. Over time, its structure and policies adapted to changing political regimes, including periods of monarchy and socialism. Today, the Bulgarian military continues to serve as the country’s defense force, building on historical foundations established by the National Army.
