Buke Shohatto
Buke Shohatto, established in 1615, was a set of laws in Japan during the Edo period specifically governing the samurai class. These regulations aimed to maintain order and discipline among the samurai and other warriors, restricting their actions, such as dueling or carrying weapons in public. It was also designed to reinforce the social hierarchy and the Tokugawa shogunate's authority. By regulating the behavior of the samurai, Buke Shohatto helped stabilize Japanese society, preventing conflicts that could threaten the shogunate's rule, and reinforcing the peace that characterized the Edo period.
