Buenaventura Durruti was a Spanish anarchist and revolutionary born in 1896. He was a key figure in the Spanish Civil War, known for his leadership in the anarchist movement and his fight against fascism. Durruti championed workers’ rights, social equality, and direct action. He commanded anarchist militias, notably organizing resistance against the military coup in 1936. Durruti became a symbol of grassroots resistance and social change, emphasizing anti-authoritarian principles. He was killed in 1936 during the war, but his legacy remains influential in anarchist and social justice movements worldwide.
