Brown Tree Snake
The Brown Tree Snake (*Boiga irregularis*) is a non-venomous, nocturnal snake native to Papua New Guinea and nearby islands. It is slender, about 4 to 6 feet long, and primarily arboreal, often found in trees. It poses a significant threat to ecosystems where introduced, such as Guam, because it preys on birds, lizards, and their eggs, leading to declines in native wildlife. The snake can also cause power outages by climbing on electrical lines and has become a major invasive species, prompting various control efforts to protect local ecosystems.
