Bronchiolitis
Bronchiolitis is a common lung infection that primarily affects infants and young children, typically under two years old. It causes the small airways in the lungs, called bronchioles, to become inflamed and filled with mucus, making it difficult to breathe. The condition is usually caused by a viral infection, most often the respiratory syncytial virus (RSV). Symptoms include a runny nose, cough, wheezing, and difficulty breathing. While most cases are mild and can be treated at home, some children may require medical attention, especially if breathing difficulties worsen. It's important to monitor symptoms and seek care if needed.
