British Biological Warfare Program

The British Biological Warfare Program, active primarily during the Cold War, researched and developed biological agents for potential military use. This included studying pathogens that could cause diseases in humans, animals, or crops. The program was aimed at understanding how these agents could be weaponized, while also exploring protective measures for military personnel. Ethical concerns and international treaties, especially the Biological Weapons Convention of 1972, eventually led to a shift away from offensive biological research. Consequently, the UK focused more on defensive strategies and public health measures against biological threats.
