BRET (Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer)

Bioluminescence Resonance Energy Transfer (BRET) is a technique used in biological research to study how molecules interact inside cells. It involves two components: a luminous enzyme (luminescent protein) that produces light through a chemical reaction, and another protein or molecule that can absorb this light if it is very close. When they are near each other, the energy from the luminescent enzyme transfers to the second molecule, causing it to emit light at a different color. Detecting this change indicates the two molecules are interacting or close together, helping scientists understand cellular processes.
