Bread mold
Bread mold is a type of fungus that grows on bread when moisture and warmth create ideal conditions. It appears as fuzzy patches, often green, blue, or black, and is composed of tiny thread-like structures called hyphae. These hyphae absorb nutrients from the bread, causing it to spoil. Bread mold reproduces through spores that disperse into the air, spreading the growth. While some molds are used in food production, like certain cheeses, bread mold is generally considered undesirable because it can cause food to decay and may produce allergens or toxins.
