Brandt Report
The Brandt Report, officially titled "North-South: A Programme for Survival," was released in 1980 by the Independent Commission on International Development Issues, chaired by former German Chancellor Willy Brandt. It aimed to address global inequality between wealthy industrialized nations (the North) and poorer developing countries (the South). The report emphasized the need for cooperation, development assistance, and fairer trade practices to improve living conditions in the South. It highlighted issues like poverty, environmental degradation, and the interdependence of nations, advocating for a more equitable global economy to foster sustainable development and reduce disparities across the world.
