BPPV (Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo)
Benign Paroxysmal Positional Vertigo (BPPV) is a common inner ear disorder that causes brief episodes of dizziness, typically triggered by changes in head position, like turning over in bed or looking up. It happens when tiny calcium crystals in the inner ear become dislodged and move into the wrong part of the ear, affecting balance. Although BPPV can be unsettling, it is not serious and can often be treated effectively with specific head movements or physical therapy to reposition the crystals. Symptoms usually resolve with treatment, but some may experience recurrent episodes.
