Bouma sequence
The Bouma sequence describes the common pattern of how we perceive and read text in many languages. It outlines the typical order of eye movements and word recognition within a line of text: first, the eye jumps to the beginning of a line (the "Gaze point"), then it moves smoothly across words (the "Fixation" phase), recognizing and processing each word, often in a predictable pattern (like "Gaze-Word-Gaze-Word"). Understanding this sequence helps in studying reading behavior, designing better text layouts, and improving reading efficiency across different languages and scripts.
