Bornu

Bornu, also known as Borno, is a historic region in northeastern Nigeria and parts of neighboring countries. Historically, it was the powerful Kanem-Bornu Empire, a major trade and Islamic cultural center from the 9th to 19th centuries. Today, Bornu is a Nigerian state with Maiduguri as its capital. The area features diverse landscapes, including savannahs and lakes, and faces challenges like security issues related to extremist groups. Despite these, it remains an important cultural and historical hub with rich traditions and a resilient population.
