Bolus insulin

Bolus insulin is a type of fast-acting insulin used by people with diabetes to control blood sugar levels during meals. When you eat, especially carbohydrates, your blood sugar rises. Bolus insulin is administered at meal times to quickly lower this increase, helping your body process the sugar effectively. It mimics how the pancreas releases insulin naturally in response to food, usually acting within 15 minutes and lasting a few hours. Proper timing and dosage are important to prevent high blood sugar spikes or lows, making it a key part of managing diabetes effectively.
