Bodhrán
The bodhrán is a traditional Irish frame drum, usually circular, made of wood with a skin head, often goat skin. It typically ranges from 14 to 24 inches in diameter and is played with a hand-held stick called a tipper. The drum produces a deep, resonant sound, and players can vary the pitch and tone by applying pressure with their hands against the back while striking the drum. The bodhrán plays a central role in Irish folk music, providing rhythm and driving energy in various musical settings, from intimate gatherings to lively pubs and festivals.
