Blue sclera

Blue sclera refers to a condition where the white part of the eye (sclera) appears bluish or grayish. This occurs because the sclera is thinner than normal, allowing the underlying tissue with the dark choroid to show through. It can be a harmless variation or indicate underlying health issues, such as connective tissue disorders like osteogenesis imperfecta, where bones are fragile. Blue sclera may also be seen in other conditions involving weakened or abnormal connective tissue. If you notice this change, especially with other symptoms, consulting a healthcare professional is recommended for proper evaluation.
