Blood type compatibility
Blood type compatibility refers to whether a person’s immune system will accept or reject donated blood, based on specific markers called antigens present on red blood cells. The main blood group systems are ABO and Rh. For safe transfusions, the donor's blood must match the recipient's type; for example, A blood can only receive from A or O, and B from B or O. Rh factor, positive or negative, also matters: Rh-negative individuals should receive Rh-negative blood to prevent immune reactions. Proper matching prevents severe reactions and ensures safe blood transfusions.
