Blackbeard (The Legend)
Blackbeard, whose real name was Edward Teach or Thatch, was a notorious pirate during the early 18th century. He became famous for his fearsome reputation, often pictured with a long black beard and a dramatic appearance, including lit fuses in his hair to create a smoky, intimidating look. Blackbeard commanded a pirate ship called the Queen Anne’s Revenge and was known for strategic cunning, violence, and bravado, terrorizing Atlantic shipping routes. Despite his fearsome persona, his career was relatively brief—he was killed in a 1718 naval battle. His legend endures as one of the most famous pirates in history.
