Black Beaver Clan

The Black Beaver Clan was one of the divisions within the Comanche Nation, a group of Native American tribes in North America. Clans were social units that organized kinship, played roles in leadership, and maintained cultural traditions. The Black Beaver Clan was named after a prominent ancestor or characteristic associated with beavers. Members of a clan often shared responsibilities, worked together on communal activities, and upheld specific customs. Clans helped reinforce social structure, identity, and cooperation within the larger Comanche society, which thrived on mobile hunting, particularly of buffalo, during the 18th and 19th centuries.
