BiPAP (bilevel positive airway pressure)
BiPAP, or bilevel positive airway pressure, is a medical device used to assist breathing in patients with conditions like sleep apnea or respiratory failure. It delivers air through a mask at two different pressures: a higher pressure when you inhale to help draw air in, and a lower pressure when you exhale to make breathing out easier. This simultaneous adjustment helps keep your airways open during sleep, improving oxygen levels and reducing breathlessness. BiPAP is often used in hospitals and can also be prescribed for use at home.
