Biological Families
Biological families are groups of related organisms that share common characteristics and ancestry. In taxonomy, which classifies living things, a family is one level among others, such as kingdom, class, and genus. For example, in the animal kingdom, the family Felidae includes all cats, like lions, tigers, and domestic cats. Families help scientists understand the relationships between different species and how they evolved over time. By studying these connections, we gain insights into biodiversity, ecology, and the traits that define various organisms.
