Bias-based policing

Bias-based policing refers to law enforcement practices that disproportionately target individuals based on characteristics such as race, ethnicity, religion, gender, or sexual orientation, rather than their behavior or evidence of a crime. This approach can lead to profiling, where certain groups are unfairly suspected of wrongdoing simply because of their identity. Such practices raise significant concerns about fairness, justice, and trust in police. They can result in negative consequences for individuals and communities, perpetuating stereotypes and damaging the relationship between law enforcement and the public. Ultimately, bias-based policing undermines the principles of equality and justice.
