Bhatkhande Notation

Bhatkhande Notation is a system developed by musicologist Vishnu Narayan Bhatkhande to represent Indian classical music systematically. It uses symbols and notation to indicate notes (swara), their sequence (ragas and compositions), and rhythmic patterns (tal). Unlike Western notation, it adapts to the unique scales and improvisational nature of Indian music, helping musicians read and interpret compositions accurately. This notation provides a standardized way to document and teach Indian classical music, ensuring consistency while allowing creative expression inherent to the tradition.
