BH3-mimetic

BH3-mimetics are specialized drugs designed to mimic a natural part of the cell's regulatory system called BH3 domains. These domains are involved in controlling cell death, or apoptosis, by interacting with proteins that prevent it. In certain cancers, these "protective" proteins are overactive, allowing cancer cells to survive longer than they should. BH3-mimetics bind to these proteins, disabling their protective effect and promoting the cancer cells' self-destruction. They are a targeted treatment approach aimed at restoring the natural balance of cell death, particularly useful in cancers resistant to conventional therapies.
