Bhāviveka

Bhāviveka was a prominent Indian Buddhist philosopher from the 6th century who helped develop Madhyamaka, a school of Buddhist thought emphasizing the concept of emptiness—that all things lack inherent, independent existence. He believed that understanding emptiness helps overcome suffering and delusion. Bhāviveka was known for combining logical reasoning with philosophical debate, emphasizing that we should analyze concepts carefully to see their dependent nature. His work laid important groundwork for later Buddhist thinkers and contributed to a nuanced view of reality that encourages neither nihilism nor eternalism.
