Beresheet

Beresheet was a private spacecraft launched in 2019 by the Israeli organization SpaceIL with the goal of landing on the Moon. It was a small, four-foot-wide lander carrying scientific instruments to study lunar soil and help demonstrate new space technology. After a journey of several months, Beresheet attempted to make a soft landing but lost contact just moments before touchdown, resulting in a crash. Despite failing to land successfully, the mission marked Israel’s first attempt to reach the Moon, advancing space exploration and inspiring international interest in lunar research.
