Belief and Doubt

Belief and doubt are important concepts in understanding knowledge. Internalism suggests that knowledge depends on factors within our own minds, like our reasoning and evidence for beliefs. In contrast, externalism holds that knowledge can depend on outside factors, such as the reliability of the processes that led us to our beliefs. When we believe, we trust something to be true, while doubt prompts us to question that trust. The debate between internalism and externalism focuses on what justifies our beliefs and how we can determine whether they are true or reliable.
