Belgic tribes
The Belgic tribes were a group of ancient peoples who lived in northern Gaul (modern-day Belgium and parts of France) during the Iron Age and Roman period. They were known for their distinct culture, warrior society, and resistance to Roman conquest. The Belgae included various tribes such as the Nervii and the Menapii, sharing language and customs. Their resistance was famously depicted by Julius Caesar, who described them as fierce and well-organized fighters. Today, their legacy influences regional identities in Belgium, and their history offers insights into early European tribal societies.
