Belgian political system

Belgium has a federal parliamentary democracy with a constitutional monarchy. Power is divided among federal, regional, and community governments to represent its diverse language groups: Dutch-speaking Flanders, French-speaking Wallonia, and bilingual Brussels. The Federal Parliament, consisting of the House of Representatives and Senate, makes national laws. The King is the ceremonial head of state. Governments are led by ministers, with a prime minister at the federal level. Regional governments handle areas like transportation and education, reflecting Belgium’s complex linguistic and cultural identity. This structure ensures regional autonomy while maintaining national unity.
