Belgae

The Belgae were a group of tribes that inhabited northern Gaul, in what is now Belgium and parts of France, Germany, and the Netherlands, during the time of Julius Caesar in the 1st century BCE. They were known for their bravery and resistance against Roman invasion. The name "Belgae" is believed to mean "the brave" or "the strong" in their own language. Caesar detailed their culture and conflicts in his writings, highlighting their fierce independence and significant role in the early history of Western Europe, paving the way for the later development of the Belgian and French nations.
