Belatacept
Belatacept is a medication used to prevent organ rejection after a kidney transplant. It works by blocking specific signals that immune cells use to attack the new organ, helping the body accept it more safely. Unlike some other drugs, belatacept is administered through IV infusion, usually in a healthcare setting. It is often part of a broader immunosuppressive treatment plan designed to protect the transplanted kidney while minimizing side effects associated with more aggressive immune suppression. By selectively targeting immune activation, belatacept aims to improve long-term transplant success and patient outcomes.
