Bel

A "bel" is a unit used to measure the size of signals in fields like telecommunications and audio engineering. It quantifies how much a signal is amplified or how much louder it becomes, based on a logarithmic scale. Typically, decibels (dB), which are one-tenth of a bel, are used more frequently because they provide more precise measurements. Essentially, a bel indicates how many times stronger or weaker a signal is compared to a reference point, making it easier to compare different levels of sound, power, or intensity in a standardized way.
